Louisiana Snake ID, LLC is a privately owned, for-profit company operated by the Hood Family. Kevin and Rachel Hood, along with their two sons, Kyler and Landon, run Louisiana Snake ID. In 2017 Louisiana Snake ID began as a public page on Facebook to provide snake identification to friends and family with the goal of keeping the snakes alive, and grew to a social media following of over 50,000 people as a safe space that empowers people to learn about and identify snakes on their own. As a voice for the voiceless, we educate people about the benefits of snakes and teach facts that debunk common myths created by fear. We also do this at schools, libraries, birthday parties, public and private events, or anywhere that someone asks us to come out and talk about snakes. Our family has been featured on Bayou Wild TV, WWL, LPB/PBS, the Advocate, Louisiana Sportsmen Magazine, inRegister, and more. We never thought we’d be on TV, in magazines or news articles, or traveling the state presenting educational and interactive shows enjoyed by all ages, but we’re so grateful for all of these opportunities, and it is our honor to be ambassadors for both snakes and Louisiana.

We also encourage a respect of nature as a whole because we want our ecosystem and environment to thrive so that all of our native animals can coexist together as nature intends. Snakes are a huge part of that, but many people just want to kill them. This is the mindset we aim to convert through education, not only within our state, but across the entire country. The exponential growth of love for these misunderstood creatures has been amazing, and has opened a door of possibilities only imagined in our family's wildest dreams. We recently founded the Snake Life Foundation, a non-profit corporation, as a pathway for those dreams to be made into reality with the help, love, and support of those who appreciate and share our passion to save snake lives and preserve the ecosystems in which all animals can not only coexist, but thrive together as nature intends.

Stay tuned as needs arise and goals are set, and join in on their efforts to reach those goals in order to make this world a more loving place for us all.
